Parkinson’s Movement Webinar 3

Parkinson’s Movement Webinar 3

Last month, Parkinson’s Movement hosted their third information webinar on Parkinson’s Disease. This one was called “Taking Control” and explores ways in which People with Parkinson’s manage their illness. It is now available to watch by clicking on the following link http://youtu.be/h0fO5x2F-iYMove4Parkinson’s were delighted to be asked to be a part of this webinar and our founder Margaret Mullarney speaks at approximately 8 mins 44 seconds on her own experience of managing Parkinson’s. It is a very interesting video that provides useful information on how best to manage Parkinson’s. The key message that comes across from watching the video is that there are a range of things a person with Parkinson’s can do, in order to prevent Parkinson’s from controlling their life. From exercising to the use of modern technology, there are many options that people with Parkinson’s can choose to regain control of their lives. One example of where people with Parkinson’s can regain control of their lives is through the act of singing which tackles the problem of reduced voice tone. At 42 mins 14 secs, this issue is addressed which highlights the Move4Parkinson’s Voices of Hope Choir. So taking control means not letting Parkinson’s determine the life we lead. There are many things that make us smile, while at the same time are good for our health. So Parkinson’s gives us a choice… Do we lie down and let Parkinson’s dictate what direction our life takes or do we invite Parkinson’s to come on a journey of our own choosing, one where we as people with Parkinson’s call the shots and make decisions on what makes us smile 🙂
