April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month

If you don’t use it you lose it! I have found this out the hard way and I have to be vigilant about my exercise regime if I am not to get recurring severe bouts of freezing and wearing off. So this blog is short as I am off to the gym. Thanks to Andrew’s Mum for the reminder ” If you don’t use it you lose it!” The following video is an example of the type of exercise that can help people with Parkinson’s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QiEVR8Tfso

Please don’t exercise without proper supervision and check with your health care professional before starting anything new. Let’s talk about what we can to for Parkinson’s during the month of April! So, if anyone would like to share their stories of how exercise helps them in their battle against Parkinson’s feel free to comment below.

don’t forget that it’s not just PWPs that benefit from exercise. I got much fitter training with Mum for the marathon last year. Exercise can be a great social outlet for PWPs so consider roping some friends in to get out together and even (whisper it) have fun while getting your exercise in!
