Music for the Soul

Music for the Soul

Last night, Whelan’s Bar in Wexford St., Dublin hosted the first night of The Soulstir Sessions, brainchild of Brian Morrow whose idea is to spread awareness of Parkinson’s through the medium of music. Six amazing acts played to a near full house in Whelan’s. As a person with Parkinson’s I thoroughly enjoyed the night because for that night, my symptoms took a back seat as my brain honed in on the wonderful music reverberating throughout the venue. It was a great experience and to know that these amazing musicians were doing this for people with Parkinson’s made it all the more special. Hopefully, last night was the first of many of these “sessions” to come.

To experience the goodwill of people last night who gave freely of their time lifted my own spirit and soul and it personally gave me a renewed sense of energy to return the favour by doing a good turn of my own. I don’t know how I will do my good turn yet, but because of last night, my spirit and soul are strong. So thank you Brian and to all the amazing musicians who put on a show that gave me one of my best nights out since my own diagnosis in 2008.
