Today, 5th December, marks International Volunteering Day.
My name is Nuala Spainhower and I am a volunteer supporting the work of Move 4 Parkinsons, a charity based in Dublin, serving the whole of Ireland.
Move 4 Parkinsons is a relatively new charity who’s focus is on Inspiring, Educating and Empowering people with Parkinson’s.
In my volunteer role I primarily support the CEO Mags Mullarney but also help orgainize events and act as Choir Manager. This might sound a lot but it’s fun, exciting and rewarding. No two days are the same and I know what I contribute makes a difference.
I’ve always enjoyed volunteering and encouraged my children to do the same. I believe it’s part of our responsibility to contribute to our communities. I’ve learned many skills while volunteering which have applied in many areas throughout my life.
So if you have a skill or a passion to contribute to an organization in your community , pick up the phone and make a difference.
